U.S. Torpedo Boat Thornton #33

U.S. Torpedo Boat Thornton #33 is either leaving or arriving in Orange. This ship was launched on May 15th, 1900.  It went into active service on June 9th, 1902.  It was in and out of active service until it was recommisioned on June 19, 1907, and assigned to the third torpedo Flotilla.  It cruised up and down the eastern seaboard and the Gulf of Mexico.  On April 7, 1917, the ship was converted to a minesweeper.  On April 8, 1918, it collided with another ship and was severly damaged. Thereafter it was removed from active service. It was sold for scrap.
